G19 ABI KF update | 10/7/2024 | 10/7/2024 | At 18:50Z ABI KF Reset RevD LUTs is promoted to OE. The event impact to INR was presented to the 10/11/2024 CWG meeting by Vladimir Kondrtonvich and Song Guo. Keyword: INR |
Visible star observation restored | 10/02/2024 | 10/02/2024 | Visible star observation algorithm is corrected and the full set of the visible star observations is restored. VNIR channel image navigation is in family with 3 other ABI sensors. Still ABI does not see 1/3 of the IR stars. That causes an unstable IR channel image navigation with elevated shifts. Presented to the 09/27/2024 CWG meeting by Vladimir Kondrtonvich and Song Guo. Keyword: INR |
Solar Cal Spacelook LUT Update | 09/27/2024 | 09/27/2024 | Weak striping can be observed in the early GOES-19 VNIR bands since the first solar calibration on 08/29/2024. The issue was caused by residual memory of the previous satellite's solar calibration spacelook data in the primary SOE string. The issue was resolved by lifting the lunar rejection thresholds in the solar calibration spacelook LUT for the VNIR bands which was effective on the solar calibration on 09/27/2024. The lifted LUT also corrected incorrect SNR calculations in the Ground System for the detectors affected by the residual memory issue. More details were discussed in the CWG meetings on 09/06/2024 and 10/01/2024. Keyword: RAD. |
Faint striping in B01 images | 09/27/2024 | Weak but widespread striping may be observed over bright clouds in the GOES-19 Band 01 images. Details were available in the CWG meeting on 10/14/2024. Keyword: RAD. | |
Kalman filter restricted | 09/25/2024 | 09/25/2024 | Kalman filter variation is restricted to avoid a divergence. Detecror map is updated (revision C). Image navigation residuals recede to under 10 urads. Presented to the 09/27/2024 CWG meeting by Vladimir Kondrtonvich and Song Guo. Keyword: INR |
LMC update | 09/19/2024 | 09/24/2024 | ABI Line-Of-Sight Motion Compensation was updated on 09/19. ABI sees a part of the stars. Kalman filter diverges causing a bad image navigation. Presented to the 09/20/2024 CWG meeting by Song Guo and Vladimir Kondratovich. Keyword: INR |
BYOG in VNIR Bands | 09/18/2024 | 09/18/2024 | The BYOG DQF method was deployed at approximately 20:37 UTC on 09/18 to mitigate the impact of erroneous high-gain detectors located near the FPA edge in the VNIR bands. However; the gain values for these detectors were still incorrect at the solar cal events on 09/21 and 09/24. The incorrect gains for these detectors were resolved at the solar calibration at 11:49 UTC on 09/27. More details were discussed in the CWG meetings on 09/18 and 09/27. Keyword: RAD |
Q LUT and Scan-mirror LUT updates | 09/18/2024 | 09/18/2024 | The Q Look-Up-Table (LUT) for Bands 1 and 2 along and the scan mirror LUT for the IR bands from CDLR79-FM4-RevB were deployed on the OE (ws3) string at 13:46 UTC on 09/18/2024. More details were covered in the CWG meeting on 09/27/2024. Keyword: RAD |
LMC update | 09/04/2024 | 09/18/2024 | ABI Line-Of-Sight Motion Compensation was updated on 09/04. ABI still does not see the stars and operates using the spacecraft navigation. Large image navigation errors of the same magnitude. Presented to the 09/06/2024 CWG meeting by Song Guo and Vladimir Kondratovich. Keyword: INR |
BDS update | 08/28/2024 | 08/28/2024 | The new Best Detector Select (BDS) maps for GOES-19 ABI were deployed at 13:10 UTC on 08/28/2024. Further details were presented in the CWG meeting on 08/30/2024. Keyword: RAD. |
Large navigation error in early IR images | 08/28/2024 | 09/03/2024 | All IR channel images are produced with large navigation errors of around 140 urad in the East-West and 1400 urad in the North-South directions. ABI does not see the stars. Presented to the 08/30/2024 CWG meeting by Song Guo and Vladimir Kondratovich. Keyword: INR |
